1. A 20 page newsletter (4 times a year) with articles, lessons, and photos for K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 teachers of science.
2. Professional development workshops and conferences on the teaching of science.
3. An organization that keeps you informed about issues that affect your classroom and the quality of your teaching.
4. An organization that keep the public informed about the needs of K-16 teachers of science and science education.
ASTA's regular membership fee is $15.00 per year. We are attempting to recruit more elementary teachers into our ranks. Many elementary teachers do not feel as though they are science teachers. ASTA feels they may be the most important teachers since they introduce students to science.
If you are interested in joining ASTA contact the ASTA Treasurer, Charre Todd, 2910 Ashley 7E, Crossett, AR 71635 . She need your name, home and school addresses, phone numbers, fax, e-mail address, the level that you teach and what you teach.
Send the following form and your check to Charre Todd ASTA Membership Form.

Your dues pays for the ASTA Science Lines newsletter. The Arkansas Science List Server and the ASTA Web Site can supply you with timely and up-to-date information, but they can not give you the depth of information found in our Science Lines. The four issues per year provide you with information about science education events in your region, messages from your President and each of your regional and level directors, grant information, student and teacher programs and workshops to expand your horizons, Internet connections for K-16 science education, lessons, research projects, science fairs, politics of education, news from the Arkansas Department of Education, Arkansas Statewide Systemic Initiative, National Science Foundation, and the National Science Teachers Association. Special thanks goes to Liz Fulton Editor for the ASTA Science Lines and to past editors Dr. Jim Edson and Bonnie Moody for the best K-16 teacher newsletter in Arkansas! |
